Always Practice Safe Stone-ing, Friends

This is a friendly reminder from ASHE to consume all cannabis products safely and responsibly in accordance with all state and local laws, as well as the regulations set by private businesses. Here are some important points to help keep you on the right side of California's cannabis regulations at all times!

For exact language, you can read San Bernardino County's regulations regarding cannabis smoking, as well as the State of California's Health & Safety Code section 11362.3 regarding cannabis use. Click here to view the full text of the regulation!

It's always a good bet to take a look at the city regulations for whatever city you plan to use cannabis in as well! And remember, anything that is prohibited at a state level, cannot be legally permitted by a county, city, or private entity.

Because cannabis has not yet been federally legalized, possessing or using cannabis or cannabis products on federal land constitutes a federal felony--never bring these products to national parks or reserves, or similar federal lands.

You should never operate machinery, such as a vehicle, while under the influence of a product like cannabis; it is illegal to drive under the influence.

As of this writing, in the county of San Bernardino, it is currently prohibited to smoke cannabis in public places. San Bernardino County defines 'public places' (for the purposes of this regulation) as "any place, publicly or privately owned, when being used for a public event, including but not limited to a farmers' market, parade, craft fair, festival, or any other event open to the general public."

It's also prohibited to smoke cannabis anywhere where tobacco smoke is already prohibited, or within 50ft of an area where smoking is prohibited. It is illegal to smoke within 1000ft of  a school, day care center, or youth care center when children are present, “unless at a private residence where the smoking is not detectable on the grounds of the school, day care center, or youth center while children are present.”

While there are no current county-specific regulations against consuming cannabis in other forms, such as edibles, drinks, tinctures, capsules, etc… in 'public places', it's always best to use your judgement and be respectful of property owners, managers, and caretakers.

Most properties that are accessible to the general public are still privately owned, and owners of private properties are legally permitted to determine if cannabis usage (that is not already prohibited by law) is allowed to occur on their property. If someone asks you to put away your cannabis goodies, it's always best to politely comply and look for somewhere else to partake.
